Small Dense LDL-cholesterol: a superior diagnostic marker
Yasuki Ito, Yosuke Meguro, Kunio Kamata, Tsutomu Hirano, Makoto Kinoshita, Mariko Shiba, Tetstuo Shoji, Shinji Koba, Akira Tanaka, Gen Yoshino
Small dense LDL-cholesterol as a superior diagnostic marker for familial combined hyperlipidemia: sd LDL-C was mesured by s LDL-C'SEIKEN' using the heparin-magnesium precipitation method and mean LDL diameter was determined by the 2-16% gradient gel electrophoresis. Comparison of the sensitivity and specificity for discriminating familial combined hyperlipidemia (FCHL) from hyperlipidemia among four different parameters.

FOBT Common Guaiac vs. Immunochemical Test
H. J. Roth, H. Schmidt-Gayk
Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) study: common guaiac versus immunochemical test. Higher sensitivity of the more recently developed iFOBTs simplifies and improves compliance in participation in the colon-rectal cancer (CRC) screening programs by thresholds adjustment versus sensitivity and specificity balance.

Comparison of CT colonography, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy and FOBT for adenoma detection
A. Graser, P. Stieber, D. Nagel, C. Shafer, D. Horst, C. R. Becker, K. Nikolaou, A. Lottes, S. Geisbusch, H. Kramer, A. C. Wagner, H. Diepolder, J. Schirra, H. J. Roth, D. Seidel, B. Goke, M. F. Reiser, F. T. Kolligs
Prospective trial for comparison of the performance characteristics of 5 different screening tests in parallel for the detection of advanced colonic neoplasia: CT colonography (CTC), colonoscopy (OT), flexible sigmoidoscopy (FS), faecal immunochemical stool testing (FIT) and faecal occult blood testing (FOBT).

Colorectal Cancer Screening By Quantitation Of Haemoglobin In Card
C. M. Matthew, K. McKay, R. J. C. Steele, C. G. Fraser
Screening for colonrectal cancer is increasing all over the world: guaiac faecal occult blood tests (gFOBT) are the most frequently used, while new faecal immunochemical tests (FIT) are now available for the quantitation of haemoglobin in faeces by collection in easy to use primary tubes.

Assessment of an Affinity Based Point of Care System for HbA1c
A. Mosca, R. Paleari, G. Passerini, F. Ceriotti
Evaluation of the analitical performance of a new Point of Care system (POCT) Afinion AS100 Analyzer (Axis-Shield PoC AS, Oslo, N), based on boronate affinity chromatography. The system takes 3 minutes per test, requires 1.5 μL whole blode per analysis, does not suffer interference in presence of HbS and HbC and reports National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program (NGSP) aligned values.
